But of course, we’ll share more as we find out.Diablo 3 Season 23 started on April 2, and we now know when it ends: July 18. We also know that the currently running season is not (yet) approaching the longest-running thus far in franchise history, so it may be another month before there is any news. So, we know there will be a Season 29 for Diablo 3, and we know it will be something new and exciting for us to try out (though more lightweight than the Altar of Rites). Again, this is a logical move! The title’s in maintenance mode now, and the developers have re-used theme features previously to pad out slower seasons. It could easily be considered the developers’ swan song to the community as they prepared for Diablo 4‘s release.Īnd generally, seasons will continue on Diablo 3! But following Season 29, themes will be reused in the title. This makes a lot of sense - Rites of Sanctuary is a monolith of a season. However, General Manager Rod Fergusson was careful to warn that the theme will not be as ‘rich’ as Season 28’s theme. The Diablo team confirmed in one of their developer interviews that D3 will happen and will have a new seasonal theme. So when the community asked whether the Seasons feature would continue in D3, the developers answered, in short, yes (Virginia), there is a Season 29 coming for Diablo 3. A new addition to the franchise has yet to stop players from enjoying existing titles, especially when presented with opportunities for leaderboard placement, as shown in the ongoing ladder competitions of Diablo 2. Up until April, we had yet to hear if Seasons in Diablo 3 would continue following the launch of Diablo 4.
